Congress stages mass protest at Polavaram
Naidu lacks commitment, party leaders allege
The Congress party’s ‘Maha Padayatra’ reached Polavaram and it culminated in mass satyagraha on Wednesday.
Former Union Ministers M. M. Pallam Raju, J. D. Seelam, Panabaka Lakshmi, Killi Kruparani, MP K V P Ramachandra Rao, PCC vice-president N. Tulasi Reddy along with PCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy participated in the protest programme.
The enthusiasm Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was showing on building Amaravati was not visible in the case of Polavaram, said Mr. Pallam Raju. The Congress owned the patent of the project, he said.
The Congress government spent ₹5,136 crore and completed 32% of the work, said Mr. Tulasi Reddy.
Mr. Naidu should tell the people what sin the Congress had committed.
The Telugu Desam Party government should complete the project as promised in 2018, said Ms. Kruparani.
KVP praises YSR
Former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy knew the value of water. Polavaram would have been completed long ago had he been alive, Dr. Ramachandra Rao said.
If the Congress was a useless party, then the “blessed” TDP should complete the project in the stipulated time, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said.
Mr. Naidu was merely laying foundation stones and performing ground-breaking ceremonies at Polavaram. Crores of rupees was being spent, but nothing was being done, he said.
